Ultimate is the second fastest sport in the world (after ice hockey) and is one of the fastest growing sports in Britain. If you’re looking for a fun, sociable sport which is also competitive then Ultimate is the sport for you!
Ultimate is a mixed, non-contact sport which can be played both indoors and outdoors. Two teams of 7 players must pass a disc (or “frisbee” to the man on the street) amongst themselves, working their way up the pitch to score in the endzone (like American football). In an interesting twist to the game there are no referees, instead the players officiate. The good nature with which this is done is called “spirit of the game”.
Whether you’re a complete beginner or a seasoned pro our club has something to offer you. Most new members have never even thrown a disc before but we can teach you everything you need to know in time for Edinburgh Beginners, a tournament where you can put your new skills to the test against beginners from all over the U.K. As you improve throughout the year you will get the chance to play in many university competitions, last year ranging from local beach Ultimate to nationals in Cardiff. For the second time last year we even attended a fun tournament in Brussels, playing against university teams from across Europe.
Of course the club also runs an active social calendar, meeting weekly for pub nights after training along with events such as Frisbee Golf, beach parties and the now infamous Christmas party.
So if you have never even heard of Ultimate before or are looking to improve your game then come sign up at the sports fayre, drop us an email or just come along and join us at any training session.
