Novices, national champions, University students or not, feel free to join the Triathlon & Mountainbike Club.
We cater for Cross country and Downhillers as well as those who just fancy riding trails or practicing their free-riding skills. We go on regular trips to some of the best MTB spots in the whole of the UK such as Glentress forest, the Nevis range and Dalbettie allowing you to practice your skills on the usual as well as North-shore craziness like seesaws, berms & board runs.
Our weekend road cycles vary in length throughout the year and aim to build base aerobic fitness. The beautiful, agricultural country side surrounding Dundee has hundreds of miles of unclassified roads meaning that the majority of weekend cycles are virtually car free and guaranteed to make a calming start to the weekend.
Swimming takes place in the university pool focusing mostly on technique. Our running meets involve technique, strength building and speed exercises as well as aiming to build a sound aerobic base.
In addition to the scheduled training times, we email our members an individual monthly training plan (you are welcome to use it or ignore it). Our training builds towards the Scottish Universities Sprint length triathlon (750m swim, 20K bike, 5K run) in April, or for the less competitive a sleeker figure and increased fitness levels.
In the 2006 Scottish Universities tri we were 2nd University (Team prize) and one of our athletes won the event. The mountainbikers have been top placed Scottish University for the past three years.
We have a club discount arranged with the Bicycle works shop in Edinburgh allowing members to get bike/tri equipment at a 10% reduction.
Lastly, we’ll have a stall at the Fresher's Fayre, for those who can kick their hangover out of bed.
