The Sunday League Competition has been one of the most popular and best subscribed clubs for many years. At present, two leagues of ten teams are operated, with promotion and relegation at the end of each season. It is a bit like the SPL but more prestigious!
In addition to this; the ‘All-Valleys’ Cup, a knockout competition, and the ‘DUSA’ Trophy, which conforms to a Champions League format; are also available for participation. The ‘Tim Langham’ memorial Shield is also run for those teams who are knocked out in the preliminaries or First Round of the ‘All-Valleys’ Tournament. These competitions climax just prior to Easter break.
Matches are played on Sunday afternoons at the renowned Riverside playing field. It promises to be a bumper year in Sunday League this year with many clubs such as Hardly Athletic and the Pornstars continuing. Despite this it is important that new teams enter to continue the spirit and tradition of the club.
Being one of the largest clubs in the Sports Union, there are numerous opportunities for socialising, with a number of events already in the pipeline for the coming year. In the past, Barbeques, Karaoke nights and Awards ceremonies have been organised so it promises to be an amazing time.
Players can join established sides or set up their own teams. Either way, come along and register your interest at the Sports Fayre! Remember, in Sunday League everyone is a winner.
