- Ju Jitsu was the martial art used by the Samurai Warrior in feudal Japan. It has been adapted over the centuries into a modern martial art that consists of throws, locks, strikes, escapes and ground grappling, providing defences against a large range of attacks.
Ju Jitsu means ‘gentle art’ derived from its emphasis on the use of an opponents body weight and momentum against them. This means it can be practiced by anyone regardless of age, sex, strength or fitness. Ju Jitsu is therefore a great sport for general fitness and flexibility, as well as its practical advantage of learning self-defence techniques.
