HOCKEY - it's not just for girls! Hello and welcome one and all to Dundee University. Now that you are here you might as well make the most of the many years you intend to spend at this "wonderful" establishment. You may have all come to Uni thinking that you are fit but believe me when I say that after a few weeks of Uni life fitness has gone so why not join the hockey club as we cater for all standards whether you are a budding internationalist or you are an internationalist at drinking Bud.
Joking aside, on the pitch we do take our hockey seriously. Last year was very successful for the club as our first team qualified for the BUSA championships while our 2nd team gained promotion to the 2nd division. We hope this year to have three teams active on a Wednesday afternoon with a mixed team taking the field at the weekends. The club is going from strength to strength both socially and competitively. We currently have over forty active club members including a few who just joined the club for the banter and don't even play hockey.
We are lucky enough to be sponsored by a local bar called Tallys which has great atmosphere, food, selection of beer, student prices and pretty barmaids. We have also been enjoying sponsorship from Pizza Hut for cheap food and a variety of Nightclubs when we go out on Wednesday nights. We are sure this year to have a number of exciting social events organised such as a Race Night, a Beer & Curry night and the Annual Christmas Dinner.
We also enjoy the most exciting tours of any club at the university. Last year 32 of us enjoyed a great two weeks in Toronto over in Canada playing hockey, drinking and seeing some of the sights. Best Holiday Ever! This year trust us we will have something equally as exciting lined up. Come down visit us at the sports fayre or get in contact at any time if you fancy coming and playing some hockey and making a few new drinking buddies.
