The Gaelic Football club is one of the most successful and increasingly popular clubs in the Sports Union. If you are interested in the competitive sports aspect of our club, that’s exactly what you’ll encounter, as we qualify for and compete in the highest level of BUSA Competition every year. In our last academic year we were defeated at the Quarter Final stages of the British Unis Championships in Birmingham by the eventual winners. Some of our players have gone on to greater heights, representing Scottish Universities at the Annual Railway Cup Inter Provincial weekend competition, with others selected for the British Universities All Stars team in recent years.
The other attractive aspect of the Gaelic Football club is, of course, the social life enjoyed by all, with frequent away match trips having an extended duration in order to frequent the pubs in Glasgow, Stirling, Edinburgh, Aberdeen etc with our home games ending up in Malone’s Bar or Tally Ho’s, both our dedicated club sponsors, continuing once more for this academic year. In addition, the annual weekend trip to the British Universities Championships in Birmingham, although competitive, always is assured to become the most enjoyable event of the year, once the football playing has ceased!
