Last year, the badminton club was the largest indoor sports club in the university, so there must be a reason for this....in fact, there's more than just one reason!
The badminton club caters for all levels of play, from beginners and social players, right through to top county and junior international standard. This year, as well as having a team in the Scottish Universities league and a team in the Dundee local leagues, we are also fielding a 2nd team for the local league to ensure that more club players that want competitive badminton can get it!
Aside from the badminton, the club has an active social scene which we are aiming to build further on this year with the club's new vibrant and enthusiastic social convenor! On top of this, the club is planning to continue it's sponsorship with Mickey Coyles, twice "Dundee's pub of the year", who provide snacks and drinks discounts for club members!
Last year, the club had a number of members travelling abroad to Limerick and Enschede (in Holland) for International Student Badminton Tournaments (ISBTS), which are social badminton weekends and which were widely enjoyed. These competitions also cater for any level of play and each player is ensured the same amount of games! This is an aspect which will be open this year to all members and can provide a great opportunity to mix badminton and socialising!
So why not try out the badminton club this year, whether you're after a few games with your friends, competitive play and a bit of travelling, or anything in between!
